Who are Mobile Video Guard and what do they provide?
Mobile Video Guard is a U.S. based security company with a headquarters in Maryland that provides remote monitored video surveillance and site security solutions for construction sites, equipment yards, commercial facilities, and other locations. Their service combines advanced video technology including mounted cameras with live feeds, lights, and audio and professional monitoring to act as a virtual security guard, offering continuous asset protection and incident deterrence without the cost of traditional onsite guards.
We sat down with Shawn Scalata, the founder of Mobile Video Guard, to understand how mobile credentials have changed staff access experience and operations.
Shawn Scarlata’s extensive background in law enforcement and security, spanning over 25 years, makes him a trusted authority in the field. His decision to collaborate with Sentry Interactive reflects our commitment to providing top-tier security solutions trusted by industry professionals.
What challenges did you face with access security before implementing mobile credentials?
When we moved to our new head office in Maryland we wanted to modernize our staff access and provide them with mobile credentials that could be provisioned remotely. This would create operational efficiencies and save front desk staff time administrating physical passes for employees and visitors. After some research we came across Sentry Interactive’s unique software solution to roll out mobile credentials that would allow our staff to access doors with NFC tap-to-unlock technology, QR code scan, or using iOS and Android widgets for remote unlocking, all without any reader hardware needing to be installed. The only thing that we needed was Sentry’s NFC Smart Access Tiles that could be simply applied to the doors without any wiring or batteries saving us time and money associated with labor.
How was the implementation process and roll out experience with Sentry Interactive’s mobile credentials
Initially we required mobile access to be deployed on 5 of our doors for 50 users. With guidance from a sales engineer from the Sentry team, once Sentry’s mobile credential software was integrated with the access control system we were able to configure our Smart Access Tiles to the doors we wanted to control mobile access to. The process of linking up the Smart Access Tiles took a matter of minutes and then we were able to start administering access permissions to our staff. We could choose the days and hours that they could access and secure doors out-of-hours. All this could be done remotely with mobile credential permissions being granted using staff emails. Our front desk personnel now serve to grant or revoke access when required and day-to-day access operations through the mobile or web app. Recently, we expanded and scaled NFC mobile access to 3 more doors to make a total of 8 doors that could be accessed using mobile credentials. This was as simple as getting three more Smart Access Tiles configured to the doors and access controller and they were activated in no time without any pulling cable.
How has mobile credentials benefitted Mobile Video Guards HQ door access?
We’ve had lots of positive feedback from our staff members that use their mobile credentials to access the building. We have eliminated the problem of having to issue replacement access passes every time users can’t access the building due to them forgetting their physical card, they enjoy the convenience of having all their keys on their phone in one place. Our front desk staff experience has also improved due to them being able to grant access permissions remotely and issue digital visitor keys to contractors and out-of-hours staff without being on site to let them in. This has freed up time for them to put more effort into output across other areas of operations. For me with my background in security, the assurance that Sentry Interactive’s NFC mobile credentials are encrypted at rest and follow NIST cybersecurity standards puts me at ease, eliminating any risk of building security vulnerabilities that was a worry when using proximity cards before.
Conclusion
By adopting Sentry Interactive’s NFC mobile credentials, Mobile Video Guard has transformed the way staff access their Maryland HQ making entry faster, more convenient, and more secure. The rollout demonstrates how modern mobile access can eliminate administrative headaches, reduce operational costs, and scale seamlessly as business needs grow. Shawn Scalata’s confidence in the solution reflects the high standard of reliability and security that Sentry Interactive’s mobile credential software delivers and proves that mobile credentials aren’t just a convenience, they’re a strategic upgrade to any organization’s access security.
