Asymmetric cryptography, not shared secrets
Readerless mobile credentials use asymmetric cryptography, made up of a public/private key pair. The public key is used to verify identity while the private key remains securely stored in the user’s iOS or Android device’s secure enclave. Every credential exchange is a fresh challenge-response handshake: the Sentry Smart Access Tile issues a challenge, the device signs it with its private key, and the system verifies the signature against the public key.
