Preserve access control architecture when migrating
to mobile credentials

Keep your panels and readers in place when migrating to NFC mobile credentials for access control. Readerless mobile access is a software layer that modernizes current PACS architecture without replacing hardware.

What is 'readerless' NFC mobile access?

Carry your mobile NFC reader in your pocket

Why have the reader at the door…

We flip conventional mobile access control on its head whereby the user’s smartphone works as the active NFC mobile door reader.

Install our wire-free Sentry Smart Access Tiles next to your doors and carry your mobile access credential reader with you.

Why choose readerless mobile credentials for access control?

The most secure mobile access reader is already in your hands

Think about it…

Your smartphone is constantly getting updated to the latest technology and top security.

A smartphone is the most advanced and best specced reader you could ever wish for, which is why we decided that instead of ‘rip and replace’ we’d turn the user’s smartphone into a reader that never needs upgrading or becomes obsolete and works with all major access control systems.

Sentry Smart Access Tiles

Sentry Smart Access Tiles enable NFC mobile access using our readerless mobile access credentials.

They are powerless and can be self applied next to a door in seconds, without running any cabling.

Made up of an acrylic tile with a passive NFC chip, when paired with a readerless mobile access credential, the credential has the ability to identify the door and send a signal to Sentry’s cloud services that will communicate with the access controller, the access controller then  makes the final decision to unlock the door.

Work with the pre-installed PACS systems

Readerless mobile access credentials work across major physical access control brands including Paxton, Brivo, Lenel, ZKTeco, Genetec, and C•CURE, without new reader hardware having to be installed.

Frequently asked questions

What is readerless NFC mobile access control?

Readerless NFC mobile access flips conventional access control around by using the user’s smartphone as the active NFC reader, rather than having a dedicated reader installed at the door. A battery-free Smart Access Tile is placed next to the door, and users simply tap their phone against it to unlock — no reader hardware on the door is required at any point.

Do I need to replace my existing door readers to use Sentry Interactive?

No. Sentry Interactive’s mobile credential software does not rely on upgrading your existing door reader hardware, your existing BLE or proximity card readers can stay in place. The smartphone acts as both the reader and the credential, meaning there is no rip and replace of hardware, no rewiring, and no disruption to your current access control infrastructure.

Is readerless NFC mobile access more secure than traditional reader-based systems?

Yes. A smartphone is continuously updated with the latest operating system security patches, two-factor authentication, and face ID, making it a more advanced and more current reader than fixed door hardware, which requires manual firmware updates. Sentry Interactive’s mobile credentials are also stored in the cloud and use asymmetric encryption, follow NIST best practices, and are the only NFC mobile credential solution to be NIST compliant by using the smartphone itself as the reader.

How long does it take to deploy readerless NFC mobile credentials?

Deployment is significantly faster than a traditional reader upgrade. Mobile credentials can be integrated with an existing access control system and rolled out to doors within days via a software integration, compared to the weeks or months typically required for physical reader replacement across a site.

Does Sentry Interactive's readerless mobile access work with both iPhone and Android?

Yes. Sentry Interactive was the first in-app mobile credential solution to leverage both Apple and Android NFC technology outside of Wallet apps. The solution works within proprietary mobile applications on both iOS and Android devices, avoiding the complexities associated with Wallet app integrations while still delivering fast, secure tap-to-unlock NFC access.
