Access beyond the door: How can readerless mobile credentials be used beyond door access?

We look into use cases beyond door access that our readerless mobile credentials can be used for when paired with wireless Sentry Smart Access Tiles. By tapping a mobile credential on a Sentry Smart Access Tile, that can be mounted anywhere without cabling or batteries, the ability to digitally identify a user and the time and location of the tap, to automatically authorize access or complete an action is possible. For example identifying who’s accessing service history, registering attendance, accessing a storage or locker unit, activating EV charging, releasing a gate or parking barrier, and more.
How self-storage operators are fast-tracking the transition to mobile access

With the rise in unmanned self storage facilities, the need for remote and automated access operations has never been higher. Many facility operators are looking to transition from physical keys, fobs, or pin codes to secure mobile access credentials that can be time-limited and can’t be shared easily, preventing risk of security breaches. The shift is being driven by a market on track to nearly double by 2034, alongside rising customer expectations for frictionless 24 hour accessibility. Until now, many operators have held back from going mobile, put off by the cost and disruption of installing new reader hardware. A new readerless solution to mobile access credentials is changing that objection, letting facilities add smartphone access on top of their existing keycard, fob, or pin system, with no rip-and-replace upgrade required. The result is a practical path to fully automated, remotely managed storage, at scale.
True mobile access credential interoperability starts with asymmetric cryptography

The level of credential interoperability is completely dependent on the cryptography the credential is built on. This week we’re breaking down the real difference between symmetric and asymmetric mobile access credential architecture for door access. One ties your credential to a single vendor’s hardware forever, the other lets it move freely across buildings, brands, and system upgrades. If you’ve ever had to carry multiple credentials for different properties, this explains why, and what “true interoperability” actually requires.
